Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den wagering is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, features 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel compound that contains many conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
