Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that contains many amenities aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
